Mt. Ste-Anne World Cup

During the race

Bromont, QC; Aaahhh the Mt. Ste-Anne World Cup, what a classic. Did you know that Mt. Ste-Anne is the only mountain where a World Cup was held every single year since the creation of the UCI World Cup circuit back in 1991. Thanks to Gestev, the race organisers for doing such a great job to bring back the world cup circus year after year. This race is a great opportunity for the fans to see their idols in action and for a few lucky like me, an occasion to take part in one of the most spectacular race of the year.

Crux Magazine
Crux Magazine Racing a world cup in front of your own crowd is an incredible feeling. There's so many people cheering all along the course as you go down this 3.1km track. It's also the week where we, as Quebec riders get the most exposure. That weekend I was followed by Jean-François Mailhot and Mathieu Faucher from the Crux Magazine. They were doing a race coverage through the eyes of an athlete and I was fortunate enough to be their choice for the article. They followed me wherever I was going, well almost everywhere ;) and took pictures, that will be added to the text I composed about my weekend. The article will be available in their next issue in September.

Showing Greg Minnaar the way to go ;)
RDS I also had the chance to be interviewed by Katy St-Laurent from the La route du sport TV show on the RDS channel. For those who don't know this channel, it's just like a french version of TSN. Katy interviewed me about my weekend experience, my athlete achivements and we also talked about mountain biking in general. I had my bike with me for the interview, so Giant should be happy about it! ;) Jean-François the Crux photograph took some pictures of the interview, it's going to make some great souvenirs.

A 20 second segment from my race run
Race About the race now, I managed to qualified for the final which is starting to be harder and harder every year. A couple of years ago, you could crashed or have a flat tire and still make it to the final, but the riders caliber has increased a lot since then. Lots of Canadians unfortunately didn't qualified, so it felt good to be part of the big show. I had nothing to lose and I decided to push as hard as I could and hope for the best. Sadly, I crashed early in the race and lost precious seconds. I ended up in 66th place, but I was still satisfied about my weekend in general. I had a lot of exposure, including TV exposure, I met a lot of people and as always the after party was great !

Prompt rétablissement Marie! hehe
Videos A big thanks to Sébastien Desbordes who kindly sent me some videos during my practice runs and the race as well. I have uploaded 2 of those videos on Youtube.com The quality is not the best, but at lease it's quick and easy to view.

Westside I'm soon leaving for British Columbia, for the Canada Cup and the Nationals in Mt. Washington on the Vancouver Island. I'm still not sure if I'm going to Whistler for the Crankworx after Mt. washington. I'll see how things go once I get there.

See you! Dom
