Mt. Prevost with Mr. Smith

Mt. Prevost, Duncan BC
Victoria, BC; I had the chance to ride with Steve Smith from Cove/Sram/RedBull yesterday. We went at Mt. Prevost, a mountain located in Duncan 45 minutes from Victoria.

Prevost's got some killer riding! From what I know, there are 4 trails but most of the time we ride Memphis and Race track, two awesome tracks! They are both about 4km, crazy flowy and they keep you busy for at least 7-8 minutes from top to bottom if you go flat out without stopping!

Shuttling, a popular word in BC
A 7km access road used by logging trucks take you to the 2550ft high summit. We had a magnificent light green Suzuki Tracker to drive us to the top, thanks to Steve's mother! hehe Riding with Steve was great! He's a ripper who likes to push the limits. Steve's got 2nd at the 2007 US Open and got 3rd at the jr. Worlds seeding run. He unfortunately crashed at the race, but still finished at amazing 11th place.

Talking about crash, I had a spectacular one during our first run! I was going to jump a rooty off camber section, but my rear wheel slipped on a root during take off and I littalery started to jump sideways before getting ejected from my bike. I landed pretty far away and Steve who was behind saw the all scene. You know your crashed hard when your friend takes off his helmet and goggles and start running towards you with his eyes and mouth wide opened! He stopped running when he heard me laughing! I wasn't hurt at all, I love those crashes! The feeling of having such a huge crash and walk away without a scratch is better than an orgasm! hahaha

I didn't have the chance to film or take pictures this winter yet, but here's one of me last April riding down the upper part of Race track. I also found a Youtube video of a guy riding Prevost. The video quality is poor though... just like the song actually, but it still gives you a idea. The link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7MaJP04RQA

Pump, pump it up!
Today was my first day working. I got accepted at the Victoria construction union Monday but I have to wait for their call. So meanwhile, I decided to help the guys at Russ Hay's in Victoria and earn some money at the same time. I worked at the other store located in Sidney last year, but this one is a lot better. The store is bigger, so it has a lot more products, bikes and it's nicer as well.

Oh yeah, before I forget! Andrew Mitchell, his friend Kyle and I have started building a pump track close to where we live. We are hoping to be done soon! A pump track is fairly easy to build and has so much potential for training! I can't wait to ride it! I'll keep you posted on that. Talk to you soon.
