2007 Year in review... part II

2007 was without a doubt my best season ever in terms of media visibility. I gained exposure through TV, magazines, internet and even in a professional bike movie. For the first time since my beginnings, I appeared in all four of the most important media outlet.

Magazines

Crux Magazine
Spring edition

I had a small article in the news section, about the creation of my new bike coaching school; Progression coaching vélo. They mention what services I offer with a link to my website. http://www.lecrux.com/1/Archives

Crux Magazine
Fall edition

The idea was to give a perspective to the readers of what downhill racing is through the eyes of an athlete. I wrote a 1200 word text about my experience of the 2007 Mt. Ste-Anne World Cup. http://www.lecrux.com/1/Archives

TV Show

Ride Guide 2007
Global TV and Xtreme Sports

Promoting the Bromont region. We (Antoine Aubert Larose and I) filmed on the mountain and showed the different trails that the mountain has to offer. There are a lot of action shots and a personal interview.

La Route du Sport
RDS

I was interviewed by Katy St-Laurent of RDS right after my race at the Mt. Ste-Anne World cup. We discussed the race, my life in general and the sport of mountain biking.

Piste et Pelouse
Canal Vox

I had an interview with Marc-André Coallier, the week following the Mt. Ste-Anne World cup race. The interview covered my lifestyle and the sport of mountain biking.

Movie

I had a 2 minute part in this professionnal bike movie produced by BPVideo. It was filmed in 2006 in Bromont and Mt. Ste-Anne. The movie premiere release out west during the 2007 Crankworx festival in Whistler.

RACES This season, I have participated in a total of 14 races all across Canada and the US between the month of April and October. I ended 3rd on the Quebec cup overall and 7th on the Canada Cup overall. I also won the Échappée freeride event.

Roule et Dons
EVENT I believe that promoting sponsors doesn’t just stop at the races, I’m always available for different events that would give my sponsors and I more exposure, while promoting cycling such as motivational talks, conferences, promo events, and bike shows. In September, I had the opportunity to be “President d’honneur” of the “Roule et Dons” event where all the profits went to the “Maison Carpe Diem”, a private medical home for people with Alzheimer. Being offered such opportunity proved that my name is well respected in the bike community. One aspect that sets me apart from many other riders is the fact that I’m a regular rider in every cycling discipline; Downhill, BMX, cross country and road. It’s a great way to develop my riding skills and my physical conditioning, but also to promote every bike category from Giant. Having the opportunity to ride full time during the season, allows me to be constantly in the bike industry. No matter where I ride, I make sure I’m approachable and if I have the chance, I’m always happy to help others get more out of their riding experience.

Girls only clinic
2008 Just like last year, I’m again moving west this winter to better train during the off season. I’m planning to kick off the season at the Sea Otter Classic in California, thereafter; I will train for a week in Bootleg Canyon Nevada and Moab Utah. I’ll then race the Canadian national circuit and the Quebec Cup series during the summer. Other venues are also planned on my schedule, such as; Crankworx, Red Bull Psychosis, Mont Ste-Anne, Bromont, Andorra and Fort William World Cup and arbitrary races like Whiteface mountain 5k race and Mt. Ste-Anne Echappée freeride. The schedule is still at the preliminary stage and is subject to change depending how sponsorships go. During the season, I reside in Bromont where I train daily, coach at the National Cyclist Center of Bromont and through out my own business; Progression bike coaching.

FRIENDS A special thanks to Jean Rouleau from the Intersport Bromont bike shop, who helped me numerous times with my bike mechanic this season! Jean's got this special touch for race bikes. As a matter of fact, he's starting a business called Makeready for 2008. It will be specialized in race setups, suspension adjustments and overall mechanic. Thanks to Jean-Bruno Fortin, an accountant and mountain biking lover who's always available to help and answer my questions. Thanks to Ian Hughes, Sebastien Travers and Richard Deslandes from the FQSC and National Cyclist Center. Thanks also to Marty Clermont from Russ Hay's Victoria, who is not only a manager but also a great friend. Marty has been kind enough to let me stay at his place for the winter. Thanks to Brent Thomson from Bootleg Canyon. Thanks to everyone who came to one of my Progression clinic this summer! Thanks to all my friends and new friends I met this summer! Mountain biking has put me in contact with so many people through out the years, it's amazing! I can't wait to see you all again next summer in Bromont! Et je voudrais par le fait même en profiter pour saluer et remercier mes parents qui visitent régulièrement mon site pour avoir de mes nouvelles puisque je n'appelle pas assez souvent ! Sans oublier mon frère bien sûr... ;)
